Sri Lankan Muslims: ‘We stand against Extremism and Terrorism’
Sri Lankan Muslims held posters on Friday condemning the terror attacks that triggered multiple blasts in Catholic churches on Easter Sunday in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Holding signs reading “We stand against Extremism and Terrorism,” the devotees stood in front of the capital’s Dewatagaha Jumma Mosque.
Hundreds of people gathered at the mosque for their Friday prayers despite warnings of retaliatory violence. Some worshipers told AFP that they were there to pray for the church bombing victims and wanted to send a message to extremists that they will not be deterred.
At least 253 people died when attackers blew themselves up at three churches and three luxury hotels last Sunday. Terrorist group ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
